You use lee as an example yet they are almost identical only boozer did it with competition whereas lee played for the pos Knicks. Boozers scoring and rebound will stay the same while lees scoring will drop some. Like I said 8+ should do it

Right, they are nearly identical.... meaning the two should be getting nearly identical contracts.

Sure, I can help with that. Complete with links! Carmelo Anthony: Won in free agency. 15 bids. You were in the bidding on him. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2008&page=2Kevin Love: Won in free agency. 6 bids. Interestingly enough, you started the bidding on him. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2013Tim Duncan: Won in free agency. 4 bids. You also were in the bidding on him. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2035Troy Murphy: Won in free agency. 9 bids. You must not have been a Murphy fan then cause you did not bid on him. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2065David West: Won in free agency. 11 bids. You bid on him too. Seeing a pattern yet? miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2069Andrew Bogut: Won in free agency. 17 bids. You started the bidding so if you wanted him at that amount maybe you should have stayed in the bidding maybe? miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved09&action=display&thread=2115&page=2Marc Gasol: After his first season in the NBA (2008-09) was a re-sign approved by the league. He had only 1 year track record with 11.9 PPG and 7.4 RPG. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=approved2009&action=display&thread=1773Brook Lopez: 6th overall pick in the 2008 draft. miege22.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=2008picks&action=display&thread=594Ok. I am tired of looking. Besides, I think I got my point across partially and I will finish it below: In free agency you will end up with crazy contracts a player is not worth and crazy cheap ones a player exceeds in value on the court. That is the very nature of free agency. You want Boozer for 6 million at 4 years, well, you can go the free agency route and let him walk and re-bid on him there. Then the market decides his worth as what happened with many of the players you listed. The only real comp for you in your list is Marc Gasol. But, he really is not a good comp at all. The only reason he is a comp (comparison player) is because he was given his contract in this league by re-sign, just as you are attempting with Boozer. However, at the time Marc Gasol was coming off his rookie season. A good rookie season, but still not much of a track record. Boozer has a MUCH longer track record of success in this league and that plays a big factor. I suggest people use real players salaries for the previous season as comps when justifying what a player should make in a re-sign. My one re-resign in this league illustrates my point and I will finish my post here with the example in red. But cornovan, before you act like a child....or in this case a baby....do some research first. Box. Josh Smith has a deal expiring this offseason and thus is eligible for a re-sign offer.
Josh Smith - HAWKS - $1,500,000 (2009)
Now, the following info. is extensive so please take your time reading through it and processing it prior to stating your opinion. Thank you.
Source used: Hoops Hype . com Josh Smith Resign Info: 5 Pro Seasons at conclusion of 2009 His Real Life Contract: 2008 Sal: $10 mil, 2009 Sal: $10.8 mil, 2010 Sal: $11.6 mil, 2011 Sal: $12.4 mil, 2013 Sal: $13.2 mil
Josh Smith - 15.6 PPG Best Forward Comparison: Gerald Wallace - 8 yrs pro at conclusion of 2009 - 16.6 PPG 2008 Sal: $8.3 mil, 2009 Sal: $9.1 mil. 2010 Sal: 9.9 mil.
Josh Smith - 7.5 RPG Best Forward Comparison: Gerald Wallace - 7.8 RPG
Josh Smith - 2.2 APG Best Forward Comparison: David West - 6 yrs pro at conclusion of 2009 - 2.3 APG 2008 Sal: 9.9 mil, 2009 Sal: 9.1 mil, 2010 Sal: 8.3 mil.
Just to list it: Gerald Wallace - 2.7 APG
Josh Smith - 1.4 SPG Best Forward Comparison: Gerald Wallace - 1.7 SPG
Josh Smith - 1.6 BPG Best Forward Comparison: Lamar Odom - 10 yrs pro at conclusion of 2009 - 1.26 BPG 2008 Sal: $11.4 mil
Josh Smith - 2.33 TO Best Forward Comparison: Al Harrington - 11 yrs pro at conclusion of 2010 - 2.2 TO 2008 Sal: $9.2 mil, 2009 Sal: $10 mil
Just to list it: Gerald Wallace - 2.1 TO David West - 2.1 TO
Analysis:
Gerald Wallace is the closest match by far at the forward position to Josh Smith. Wallace is within 3-yrs of pro experience and if you average out his 2008, 2009 and 2010 salaries you get $9.1 million per season. David West would be the next closest match and he is within 1 year of pro experience. If you average out his 2008, 2009 and 2010 salaries you get the same $9.1 million per season mark as you get with Gerald Wallace. Blocks per game is a little harder to gage as Odom, a drastically older player than Smith, is the best match. Smith is the better shot blocker at this point but Odom "earned" this contract years ago as a better rebounder and slightly better player than Smith so the $11.4 mil Odom made this year is hard to apply to Smith for those reasons. Harrington is the best statistical match for Smith when it comes to TO but is also drastically older than Smith but his average salary per season in 2008 and 2009 seasons is $9.6. Both Wallace and West are close as well and I feel are better bench marks to Smith.
So, in short Gerald Wallace / David West is the best bench mark when considering a fair re-sign contract offer for Josh Smith. I think it would be a fair deal to offer Smith $9.1 million a season and extend him a max contract length deal, which, if I understand things correctly, is a 4-yr deal. Whatever the max it, we wish to offer him max years at $9.1 million a season.

Cornvan I hope you realize that I will now be denying any offer you make on any player. Congratulations you get a 0-1 to start. Heres hoping the other mods feel the same.
Also while I will say that using real life contracts doesn't work so well as players generally won't be worth as much here with a hard cap. But on that subject using our free agency contracts when we have had 2 easy pickens free agencies where players were available that should not have been is also not a good option. The only thing you can use to look at is past re-signs and believe me when I say that the top players that are on cheap deals won't be like that once they come up for re-signs. Needless to say CV you have very little experience in leagues like this and you need to learn what players are worth on a closed market. Look what happened when Rudy Gay, Monta Ellis, Jameer Nelson, and Andre Miller were the only real good free agents. They all got 15+ mil when they should have never gotten near that. If boozer hits Free Agency good luck paying him 6 mil lol.

Cornvan, I agree with you. The open market set the value for all those other players, why should Boozer be more? Well, the mods say that re-signs are different. I guess that is true.
Why don't you let Boozer become unrestricted and bid on him in free agency. If all holds true this year, you should be able to get Boozer for about $6 mil. You'll be going up against other teams with more money, but at least the market will set Boozer's value not the mods. Of course, you would be risking losing Boozer all together.
I say take the risk and see what happens!!!
